Autoshift
706 New Version!
Product Information Sheet
Product Summary
The ICOM IC-706 radio
provides many features in a small package. However, one of them is the
lack of an auto repeater split found on many VHF/UHF radios. The IC-706
requires you to calculate the repeater offsets and enter them manually.
Most VHF radios have a basic repeater band plan "programmed"
into them and will perform the repeater offset calculation for you. The
Autoshift 706 will add this missing feature to your radio. The basic
(ARRL) 2m,6m and 10m band plans have
been programmed into the Autoshift system.
When enabled, the Autoshift 706 will automatically set the
transmit frequency for you as you tune the receive frequency.
The Autoshift 706 is a kit that contains a small
(Approx.: 1" by 1") PC board with a
small processor that can be mounted within the IC-706. It takes only 4
connections to solder pads on the filter unit board in the IC-706 to install it internally. There are also instructions with the kit that explain how to mount the Autoshift unit externally andwill NOT void the warranty.
Once installed and activated, as you tune VFO-A, the Autoshift 706 will automatically set the VFO-B (transmit) to the proper repeater input offset with [SPLIT] enabled. If you retune the VFO, [SPLIT] will be disabled as an indication that the Autoshift 706 has been activated. When you stop turning the VFO, the Autoshift 706 will again set the VFO-B (transmit) frequency and enable [SPLIT] . Within simplex areas of the band, it will set both VFOs to the same frequency. The Autoshift 706 is disabled when tuning outside the ham bands or when operating in any mode other than FM. You can also manually disable the Autoshiftfrom the front panel of the 706 to allow manual entry. This allows use of odd splits, or simplex in the repeater bands.
Features
- Automatic Frequency Setting
Provides automatic setting of 2nd VFO while tuning within the
2m/6m/10m repeater bands.
As users changes VFO frequency, the Autoshift system will update
the 2nd VFO to the repeater input frequency, automaticly.
Programmed with standard ARRL repeater
band plans for 2m, 6m and 10m bands.
- Controled from menu keys
The Autoshift unit is enabled using the 706 front
panel "menu" keys. No external buttons or controls required.
Can be disabled for non-standard splits.
- Senses PTT - New Feature!
The Autoshift senses PTT signal.
Without this feature, the Autoshift would have to be disabled from the menu prior to transmitting.
With this new feature, when you transmit, the Autoshift will sense this and disable itself.
This prevents the Autoshift from performing the split function on the transmit frequency.
Once you release the PTT,
the Autoshift will resume operation. This new feature will cause the Autoshift to only track your receive frequency
and not see the transmit frequency.
- Small !
The complete system is on a less than 1" by 1"
circuit board. This small size allows the unit to be mounted
inside the 706 case. Connects to IC-706
with only 4 wires ! - Great for Moble operation.
Safer driving. As you drive, you can tune new repeaters
and the Autoshift will take care of setting the repeater input
frequency.
